Paxy and me up late (almost 9!)

Everyone went to bed crazy early this evening. Papa spent today outside and it was COLD. Yesterday, he had a Covid booster. Today he had a headache. And an excavator. And a crazy work day having to get everything done before the dark. When he finally came in the door for dinner, he was all used up.

I was reading a book about mummifying people to the boys and all was quiet in the house. He had fallen asleep at around 6:30 with all the lights on. Hugo went off to bed with him when he realized what was happening.

But Paxy is my night owl. He’s whispering to himself right now, leaning against me and making something ridiculous out of legos. He loves legos, but they make him scream with frustration. He just finished his “new fastest boat complete with a rocket ship that blasts off and turns everybody into ice”. And now he’s moved on to make something as equally insane and he’ll explain what it is to you like everyone in the world has one of these things.

We’ve been hanging out in this little room, quietly going through pictures…..

Paxy as a ninja. I don’t know why wrapping yourself in toilette paper equals instant ninja. But there you go. And I don’t think you have to do much of anything once you’ve wrapped yourself up. You’re just a ninja now, and that’s that.

I love this one. It’s Pax looking closely at Uncle Dougy’s geodes. He’s just finished with the hammer, hence the safety goggles and the bus-eargs.

This is us in the morning reading a crazy graphic novel about the undead. Hugo was so into it that we read it from start to finish without getting up once. We were sitting there for close to 3 hours.

Here’s the most awesome climbing tree right on the loop path. This picture was taken on the morning of Papa’s birthday, but the boys and I do this walk all the time. And climb this tree.

“I found this….. I got it. I found these….put on! I found this….PUT ON!” – Pax describing the crazy lego thing he just made (after lots of screaming). Sometimes I don’t know why he keeps doing it – he seems to hate most of the process.

I’m going to try and talk him into going to sleep. I hope you all have a good night.
